Seeding Change in the Bluegrass
In 2024-2025, The Climate Mobilization brought together more than 15 organizations and leaders from across Kentucky to launch the climate survival movement across the state.
Through months of intensive grassroots leadership development and mentoring, group trainings, and support designing survival initiatives, we have equipped Kentucky organizations and leaders with the tools they need to grow the climate justice movement in their communities.
Our 2024-2025 achievements in Kentucky include:
Designed 7 climate survival initiatives in Louisville, Whitesburg, Hopkinsville, and Lexington, KY
Formed a statewide cohort of 9 influential leaders and changemakers who led the design process; The Climate Mobilization provided leaders with training on power-building, mutual aid, project development, team building, and other topics to guide their programs
Organized an assembly that convened 50+ impacted community members from the historically Black neighborhoods in the West End of Louisville to launch campaigns around air pollution regulation and emergency disaster preparedness
Coached 6 organizations on how to build aligned strategies focused on climate survival across the state. The Climate Mobilization’s staff offered support with climate education, organizational restructuring, building democratic decision-making structures, leadership development, and facilitating cross-regional collaboration.
Facilitated multiple climate survival trainings, include a soil remediation training “Root & Restore” with West End Women’s Collaborative in July 2025. A staff member also supported Kentucky Student Environmental Coalition (KSEC)’s Catalyst community organizing summer camp for youth leaders from across the state
Supported the launch of the first ever Survival Bloc regional hub across the country, a new national BIPOC-youth led network for climate survival
