The Launch of Dogbane Retreat Center & Movement Hub
In Richmond, survival means a 98-acre movement hub, farm, and retreat center that reconnects grassroots BIPOC movement leaders with the land. Dogbane Movement Hub helped more than 350 leaders build their skills, access land, and develop shared strategies in 2024. Run by CMP and Rhizome, Dogbane is incubating survival programs rooted in healing, solidarity economics, disaster resilience, and food & land sovereignty.
Seeding Change in the Bluegrass
In Kentucky, survival means tornado and chemical leak preparedness; protection from right-wing violence; and grief support. Climate Mobilization Project is partnering with climate justice, mutual aid, and youth-led organizations to incubate 4+ survival programs in four communities, including an Eastern Kentucky climate resilience hub and community defense programs.
Building Food Sovereignty in the Westside
In Las Vegas, survival means job training & business ownership for formerly incarcerated residents; community-owned farms and stores; and an end to food apartheid. Climate Mobilization Project and Green Side Up supported Black leaders working to make this vision a reality on Las Vegas’ disinvested West Side through the incubation of vertical farming and hydroponic food production hubs.
